Actlab
Founding and Growth
Founded in 2006 in Thrissur, Kerala, ActLab – Actors Training Laboratory was established with a mission to nurture aspiring actors. In 2013, the school expanded and moved to Ernakulam, where it now operates as a comprehensive acting school with a dedicated in-house training environment. Registered under the Indian Trust Act, 1882 (Reg. No: 83/IV/2014), ActLab aims to cultivate better actors by providing platforms for artistic expression.
Training Philosophy
ActLab’s Foundation Course offers a safe and encouraging platform where aspiring actors can confront their fears, build self-confidence, and grow through structured exercises. The training focuses on breaking down barriers and releasing suppressed emotions, helping actors evolve with a greater perception of reality and refined skills.

About the Director
Sajeev Raman Nambiyath
Shri Sajeev Raman Nambiyath (Director – ActLab) is an Actor’s Trainer for last 30 years and has served as visiting faculty at Film and Television Institute of India, Pune since 2006. He took charge of the acting department head at Asha Sharath Cultural Centre at Dubai in 2016. He started his professional career after being selected to be a part of Ford Foundation Project through Anganam Theatre augured the most significant phase of his life. During the course of the program he received hands-on training from the Masters of Indian Renaissance Theatre like Bensy Kaul, Rudhra Prasad Sen Gupta, Probeer Guha, Lokendra Aambam, MuthuSwamy Anmol Vellani, Neelam Mansingh Chowdary and other eminent personalities from the world of art and theatre.
Theatre and Acting Career
A Thousand Rivers
A Thousand Rivers (1993), directed by Hartman de Souza, which received nationwide acclaim and established him in Indian theatre.
Padavukal
The Steps and Bharathavakyam, which were highly celebrated performances in Kerala (1996-1997).
Paaduka Paattukara
A solo performance based on the life of Music Director M. S. Baburaj, which was performed over 100 times in India and abroad due to popular demand.
Agni
Agni by Vayalar Vasudevan Pillai, directed by Samkutty Pattomkari, a highlight of the National School of Drama Theatre Fest ‘Bharangam’ and later showcased at the Soorya Theatre Fest in Thiruvananthapuram (2005).
Contributions as a Director and Actor’s Trainer
Over three decades of experience training actors, with a focus on body movement, voice, and mindfulness, helping shape the careers of numerous actors in India and the Middle East.

The main objective of ActLab Studio’s is to showcase the skills and acting talent of actors who completed their course from ActLab – Actors Training Laboratory. In furtherance of its aims and objectives for revolutionising the theatre culture and entertainment industry ActLab is initialising a series of festival events to connect with community. Mathrubumi had joined hands with us as Media Partner for ActLab Theatre festival 2018 and the event reached huge mass of population across the state through print, visual and radio media.
About
Actlab Studios
ActLab Studios started its operations at Panampilly Nagar Cochin in 2017 Actlab Studios is established to promote the talent of theatre and film artists, through classical, contemporary and realistic plays and projects.
To brief on the Theatre activities of ActLab, we have filtered 30 active theatre actors from the Actlabian pool to regularly perform for ActLab Studios and they are trained and groomed to perform about 20 classical plays, which are adapted and directed exclusively for ActLab Theatre. The main themes covered by ActLab plays are gender equality, domestic violence, thrillers, issues of transgenders, comedy, human psychology and such other topics of social significance.
Our vision is to bring about a metro theatre culture in the city, which is first of its kind in Cochin and thus intends to facilitate a shift in entertainment culture and community engagement.
ActLab is contributing to social development by providing voluntary services to the vulnerable and differently abled people of Kakkanad Juvenile Homes and SnehanilayamSpecial School, respectively in the recent past.
